In June 2023, we held the first Japanese Classic Cars Show in Pécs. There was immense nationwide interest preceding the event because there hadn’t been a Japanese car exhibition of this kind, size, and theme in Hungary before. However, it’s evident that there’s now a demand for quieter, factory-original, vintage-style meetings alongside the usual tuning and racing events when it comes to Japanese cars!

The event surpassed my expectations in every aspect:
– Nearly 7000 visitors attended the exhibition!
– The parking within the venue occasionally reached full capacity, accommodating 300 simultaneous unique Japanese visitor cars.
– Every media outlet and content creator who covered the event had nothing but praise. It was particularly significant to me, and I was touched by Karotta’s closing words (starting at 38 minutes 55 seconds): [link]. Hearing such praise from someone like Karotta, who has experienced and talked about these cars extensively, is incredible recognition! Perhaps that’s why Karotta seeks other topics now, as these no longer provide new experiences for them. But on that day, the Karotta I had watched on TV car shows for years returned…
– I received numerous acknowledgments from visitors. Many thanked me for organizing the event, considering it filling a gap. They didn’t just say it was very good, beautiful, or interesting; they said: THANK YOU! Could there be a greater recognition?
– Not least, the exhibitors also had a great time, were not disappointed by the event, and unanimously expressed their willingness to participate next year. And Pécs isn’t exactly centrally located in the country…
– And the drifters…! They came to Pécs at their own expense, out of enthusiasm and for fun. They left feeling that they had never encountered such a grateful audience, such helpful people, and they really want to participate again next year.
As for the event itself:
– Inside the building, we exhibited 100 factory-condition, the most famous and coolest Japanese sports cars from the 70s to the present day, as well as their tastefully tuned or racing versions. So, the most famous Japanese street fighters in factory condition! This is a crucial motto of the event! Therefore, I believe that the Japanese Classic Cars Show is a unique exhibition at the European level, but perhaps even in Japan, it’s challenging to bring together so many icons in their original state. – Around the building’s massive concrete plaza, we displayed classic Japanese cars brought by visitors. It was a constantly evolving exhibition frenzy with hundreds of cars!
– There was also a mini agility track in the courtyard where anyone could test their driving skills with their own Japanese car.
– There were professional drift demonstrations at various times.
– There were roundtable discussions on general Japanese automotive topics and technical presentations by Bácsi Geri.
– Children could participate in origami workshops, and a carousel awaited them in the courtyard.


Based on the above, it was undeniable that we had to repeat the event in 2024. The Japanese Classic Cars Show will be held again in Pécs at the Expo Center from May 31st to June 1st-2nd, 2024. Due to various reasons, many couldn’t attend in 2023, or simply didn’t believe in it, so we expect even more visitors in 2024.
